WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley South’s boys soccer team lost to Franklin Monroe, 7-2, on Thursday, Oct. 6, at home.

Franklin Monroe took the first lead, but a few minutes later, Twin Valley tied it up with a goal of their own. South then took the lead and led 2-1 until around around five minutes remained in the half. Franklin Monroe tied it up late in the first half to tie the match at 2-2 going into the second half.

The Jets did their damage in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals to hand South the loss.

“I was very proud with the way my team played today,” said TVS coach Clay Young. “FM is a good team, and there is a reason why they are ranked third in the area. We definitely took a step in the right direction for our program. We played a solid 20 minutes against Botkins and a solid half tonight. We have to continue to improve and continue to make progress for our program. I have a great group of kids and I believe if we continue to work hard, next year we will be able to compete with teams like Botkins and FM for a full 80 minute game. I am really happen with the progress that we have made this year.”

The Panthers were scheduled to play out their final two matches of the regular season at National Trail on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and on Thursday, Oct. 13, at home against Bethel. The post season will begin next week.
