SPRINGFIELD — National Trail’s girls soccer team traveled to Springfield to face off against Northeastern on Tuesday, Oct. 18, for the first round of the sectional tournament. The Lady Blazers were defeated 2-0, bringing their 2016 postseason campaign to an early end.

Rachel Ray, Taylor Middleton, Bri Dillow and Mallory Nugent all had shots on goal for Trail, but were unable to score. Goalkeeper Trena Caldwell had eight saves for the night.

“The girls played well, and although we would have liked to continue, we are proud of all of our improvements this season,” said Trail coach Lisa McClosky. “I’m sure the girls are looking forward to a little rest and celebration of their accomplishments.”

National Trail’s season ended with a 4-9-3 record.
