Booth named CCC Back of the Year

PREBLE COUNTY — Senior running back Tanner Booth of Tri-County North was recently selected as the 2016 Cross County Conference Back of the Year.

Booth led the conference with 1,642 yards on 230 carries and scored 17 rushing touchdowns.

Along with Booth, junior Chandler Sproles and senior Kyle Sykes were voted first-team All-CCC for Tri-County North. Senior Tyler Glander of National Trail also earned first team honors. Twin Valley South seniors Andrew Augspurger and Blake Holp were also first-team honorees.

Three area players earned second-team all-conference awards from the county. Those players include senior Ben Sullivan of National Trail, junior Dakota Dixon of Tri-County North, and senior Sammy Shockey of Twin Valley South.

Each of the three Preble County CCC schools had two players selected for special mention. Angel Garabito and Levi Norton of National Trail, Tri-County North senior Chase Gunder and sophomore Wyatt Hutchins, and Twin Valley South seniors Troy Bowers and Jared Cottingim received special mention honors.

Tri-County North finished third in the conference with a 6-2 record and was 6-4 overall. Twin Valley South was sixth in the conference (3-7 overall, 3-5) while National Trail managed eighth place (2-8, 1-7.)

Mississinawa Valley, 0-8, 0-10
