Winter sports tip off Friday with girls’ hoops

PREBLE COUNTY — The high school winter sports season is set to tip-off Friday, Nov. 25, as the girls’ basketball season gets under way, while boys’ basketball and wrestling is set to begin next weekend and swimming a week later.

Three of the county’s five girls’ teams will be in action during the opening weekend.

Eaton, coming off a 12-11 season, will play in the Annie Oakley Tip-off Tournament at Greenville. The Eagles will play the host Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Versailles and Graham will meet in the opening game of the tournament at 6 p.m. The winners will meet in the championship game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game is set for 6 p.m. Eaton’s junior varsity team will play Friday at 4:30 p.m. then either 3 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., on Saturday depending on the outcome of Friday’s game.

Tri-County North, 1-22 last season, will open with a pair of games in the CCC/SWBL Tip-off Classic at Carlisle. On Friday, North will play the host Indians at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, North will play Northridge at 6 p.m.

Twin Valley South, 3-19 a year ago, will also play in the CCC/SWBL Tip-off Classic at Carlisle. South will open with Northridge on Friday at 6 p.m. and will play Carlisle on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Preble Shawnee, 11-12 last season, will tip-off its season on Monday, Nov. 28, when it hosts Hamilton Badin at 7:30 p.m.

National Trail, 6-17 a year ago, will be the last girls’ team in action as they host Dixie at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
