EATON — The Fourth of July holiday season got of an early start last weekend, when Kettering Health Network celebrated Independence Day with music, food and fireworks. The Boom-n-Blast Independence Day celebration was held Sunday, June 25, at the Preble County Medical Center and drew a huge crowd, which has event organizers discussing expanding the event next year.
The Preble County Medical Center is accredited through Grandview Medical Center, a part of Kettering Health Network.
The old-fashioned patriotic celebration featured free popcorn and ice cream. Buckeye Jake’s and Chuck Wagon offered food for purchase. Kids of all ages enjoyed a free carnival with inflatables, face painting and games. Local police, fire and EMS vehicles and a MedFlight helicopter were on display. Free health screenings and giveaways wer available and there were drawings for prizes throughout the event.
The sister duo Adelee & Gentry took to the stage and entertained those in attendance for nearly 90 minutes. They have been singing and performing in and around their hometown of West Alexandria with a unique blend of folk and pop music for the past five years.
The event wase capped off with a fireworks display at Seven Mile Park starting at dark.
