ARCANUM — Led by Sean Hodges and Kasey Wilken, Eaton’s boys’ golf team won the Preble County Tournament last week.
Hodges, who finished second overall, shot an 80 and Wilken, who was third, shot an 81 for Eaton, which totaled 349 to top the five-team field by 11 strokes on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Beechwood Golf Course.
Twin Valley South’s Nathan Osborn shot 68 to earn medalist honors for the third straight year. South finished second with a 360.
Tri-County North was third, shooting a 387. Preble Shawnee was fourth with 454 and National Trail was fifth shooting a 520.
“We’re very pleased,” Eaton coach Randy Titkemeyer said of the win. “Sean and Kasey, they played well. No matter what tournament it would be in. It’s part of the process. We want to keep getting better until the end of the season. I want to wish good luck to all the (county) schools.”
Osborn shot a 31 on the front nine, the best nine-hole score of the day. He wrapped up his round with a 37 on the back-nine.
“He thinks he played pretty well,” South coach Darcy Robinson said. “He’s playing great golf right now. He’s hitting the ball well. Of course, his short game is always good. It’s nice for him to finish first here. It was a good day for him.
Rounding out the top ten individual scores were Eaton’s Seth Bristow (90), Tri-County North’s Ethan Kelly (90), Tri-County North’s Dylan Curtain (91), Twin Valley South’s Willie Bowman (94), Twin Valley South’s Jayden Bassler (97), Eaton’s Felix Durham and Tri-County North’s Alec Wayman (99).
