TVS MVCTC FFA shares fair overview

PREBLE COUNTY — This year at the 167th annual Preble County Fair, Twin Valley South (TVS) MVCTC FFA members showed and received multiple awards.

Some members who placed and participated included:

•Chyann Kendel, who had a very successful year, as she was named the Senior Division Premier Exhibitor for Poultry and Rabbits. While showing poultry, Kendel placed first in the Skillathon, third in Showmanship. She also had the Champion Bantam and Champion Large Fowl, followed by Overall Grand Champion in Poultry.

In rabbits she placed first in Skillathon, second in Showmanship, had Champion and Reserve Champion Mini Rex, and won Reserve in Show. She also served as the second runner up fair queen and was recognized for winning the Good Neighbor essay contest through Tractor Supply Company.

•Hannah Pemberton showed rabbits and received second place for her Blue Doe and second place with her Broken Buck.

•Kaitlynn Crow was awarded the Bob Mason Memorial Award for receiving high points in walk and trot gymkhana events. She also placed first in walk and trot barrels and pole bending.

•Allie Hamilton placed first in 14-18 Hunter Under Saddle. She also showed in Swine and received first in her class for her 260 pound crossbred Market Barrow.

•Austin Baker competed in the King and Queen Contest and served as Goat King. He also showed and received Grand Champion Duck.

•Preston Glander competed in the 13-14 Swine Showmanship and received third place. He also placed second with his 260 pound Market Barrow class.

•Brooklynn Harrod placed fourth in the 15-16 Poultry Showmanship she was also awarded multiple Best of Breed in several Poultry breeds.

•Sydney Flory showed sheep and hogs. She received third place in the 13-14 Sheep Showmanship.

•Gabbi Cooper competed in the King and Queen Contest and was chosen as the 2017 fair queen. She was Senior Premier Exhibitor for Beef. Cooper showed Beef Cattle and received first place in the 17-18 Beef Showmanship, Reserve Champion Beef Hereford Heifer in Jr. Fair show, and Grand Champion Beef Hereford Heifer in Open show.

•Kinsey Crowe also showed cattle. She received Overall Reserve Champion Beef Showmanship and was awarded Grand Champion Steer.
