One killed in crash

WEST ALEXANDRIA — At press time, deputies are investigating a single vehicle, fatal crash which occurred at 1:20 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.

The crash, occurred on Ohio 122, north of Quaker Trace Road. According to officials, deputies arrived and found a white 2007 Ford Ranger pick-up truck on its top in the middle of the roadway.

The driver, Charles E. Spencer, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sheriff Mike Simpson.

The preliminary investigation indicated the truck was traveling south on Ohio 122 when it traveled off the right side of the roadway, according to deputies. The truck struck a guard rail and then rode the guardrail for several feet until if flipped several times. The truck came to rest in the roadway.

Spencer, 66, of Cincinnati, has family members who reside in Preble County, according to Simpson. He was removed to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office in Dayton, where an autopsy was to be performed Monday.

West Alexandria Fire & EMS responded to the scene. The crash remained under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office at press time.
