Fields District 15 DII COY

EATON — Eaton volleyball head coach Parker Fields has been named the District 15 Division II coach of the year after the Eagles completed the most successful season for volleyball at the school in over a decade.

Fields and the Eagles finished the season with a 23-4 record, with a District Championship, a Sectional Championship and a Co-SWBL Southwestern Championship.

The district title marked the team’s first since 2000, and the SWBL championship was the first since 2003 for the school that features a rich volleyball tradition.

Fields received the award from his fellow coaches within the district who voted for Fields following the banner year for his program.

This is the second time — but first time as an Eagle — he has been named a district coach of the year. He won the award in 2006 with National Trail.

Fields quickly gave credit to his team for the award. “It means that the other coaches in my association have taken the time to recognize the efforts of my team,” Fields said of the award. “It’s never been about me, it’s about the kids, but it’s nice to have validation that their hard work pays off.”

Fields said the award will go on his basement wall next to his previous coach of the year award, and said the award doesn’t mean much compared to the accomplishments of his team. “I won’t tell them that I got the award because all that matters is them,” he said. “Next to what the kids have done, and how hard they have worked? This ranks toward the bottom of accomplishments this season.”

Fields was also named co-coach of the year in the SWBL Southwestern along with Lynzee Johnson of Bellbrook.

Players from the team also shared numerous awards with their coach, as Emma McKinney was named player of the year in the SWBL Southwestern, first-team all-district, and was named third-team all-state.

Julia Titus joined her as a member of the first-team All-SWBL, and All-District 15.

Brittany George and Jackie McCafferty were named second-team All-SWBL and George was named second-team All-District 15, while McCafferty received honorable mention.

Meghan Puckett and Brandi Sittloh were honorable mentions in the SWBL and Puckett and Allison Collins joined McCafferty as honorable mention within the district.

Titus, George and McCafferty were also selected to play in the District 15 senior All-Star match played on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Wayne High School.
