PREBLE COUNTY — The Preble County Cougars dropped to 2-1 on the young basketball season following a 50-31 loss to the Darke County Slammers on Jan. 25 at Eaton First Church of God. Brad Mikesell led the Cougars with 16 points while Alex Day and Sean Pierce added four points each. Chad Mikesell dropped in three points and Brooks Henning and Sidney Hoskins rounded out the scoring with two points each. Players also seeing action were Ricky Birkhead, Katy Bishop, Jr. Gambill, Adam Jackson, Kim Jackson and Kim Mikesell. The team is coached by Tim Lane and Chuck Hart.
The Cougars won their first two games of the season, beating the Montgomery County Crush 42-29 and knocking off Shelby County, 36-26.
