EATON — An attempt by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office to serve an arrest warrant at an area apartment complex led to the arrest of another resident last week.

On Thursday, July 7, at approximately 12:08 a.m., deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant at Prestwick Square Apartments on South Barron Street in Eaton, according to Sheriff Mike Simpson.

Simpson noted, PCSO deputies spoke with Bradley Weinstiger, who was seated on a sidewalk outside his apartment, and asked for permission to search his apartment for the wanted subject.

“Weinstiger gave permission and allowed deputies in to the apartment,” Simpson reported.

“It was at this time that deputies noticed an orange container in the grass where Weinstiger had been sitting,” Simpson said. “Located in the container were 21 capsules of suspected heroin.”

According to Simpson, street value of the drug discovered is approximately $210.

Weinstiger was arrested and transported to the Preble County Jail.

Weinstiger, 28 and a resident of Eaton, was charged with possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. He remained in the Preble County Jail at press time, and was expected to appear in Eaton Municipal Court sometime Monday afternoon, July 11.
