EATON —The 37-year-old West Alexandria mother accused in the death of her toddler son last December pleaded guilty on Monday, Oct. 24.

Jury trial for Christy Lynn Warwick, who was arrested in May on charges relating to the death of her 21-month-old, was set to begin Monday in Preble County Common Pleas Court. Warwick instead changed her plea.

Sentencing in the case has been scheduled for Nov. 29, at 1 p.m.

Charges against Warwick included one count endangering children, a third-degree felony, and one count involuntary manslaughter, a first degree felony.

Preble County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating the death of the child on Dec. 13, 2015, after responding to a 5247 Lexington Road residence when Warwick called 9-1-1 “reporting that her son was unresponsive,” Sheriff Mike Simpson said earlier this year.

The boy was transported to the Preble County Emergency Room facility in Eaton, and later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Dayton, according to Simpson. The child died on Dec. 14, 2015.

The death of the toddler was ruled a homicide due to blunt force trauma to the head, according to officials.

After the investigation by Preble County Sheriff’s officials, Christy Warwick was indicted and arrested on Wednesday, May 4.
