Crews sets steals record in TVS win

DAYTON — Twin Valley South girls’ basketball team tied a single-game record by collecting 26 steals, and junior Mylan Crews set a single-game record for steals with 14, in a 55-46 win over Dayton Jefferson on Monday, Dec. 5.

South led at the end of each quarter en rout to collecting its second win of the season.

The Panthers led 14-8 after one, 34-24 at the half and 46-35 after three.

Junior Kelsie Shafer paced the Panthers with 16 points, while senior Emily Hutchings added 14. Crews finished with nine and Madison Johnson chipped in with eight.

On Thursday, Dec. 8, South fell to visiting Miami East, 68-22, in a Cross County Conference game. Crews led the Panthers with seven points, while Johnson added six.

South, now 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the CCC, was scheduled to play Dixie on Monday, Dec. 12, before hosting National Trail on Thursday, Dec. 15. They will close out the week by traveling to rival Tri-County North on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
