CINCINNATI — It is the most coveted of all UniFirst Corporation recognitions. Out of the thousands of UniFirst route sales representatives (RSRs) in the U.S. and Canada, only 13 have earned this distinction for 2017 — and one of them hails from Eaton. Named after UniFirst’s founder, the Aldo Croatti Award is presented to those RSRs who exemplify unparalleled customer service while retaining 100 percent of their business customers for an entire fiscal year. Carl Mitchell is one such person.

Mitchell, who has been with UniFirst for 29 years, delivers work uniforms and facility service products to 87 businesses on a weekly basis throughout the greater Cincinnati, Florence, Dayton, Richmond, and surrounding areas.

Headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts UniFirst Corporation (NYSE: UNF) is a leading provider of customized work uniform programs, corporate attire, and facility service products to businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. Together with its subsidiaries, UniFirst also provides first-aid and safety products, and manages specialized garment programs for the cleanroom and nuclear industries.

“Carl is an excellent RSR with great relationships with his customers, or ‘friends,’ as he likes to call them,” says Gary Spradlin, UniFirst district service manager. “He’s always willing to help out when needed. He’s unselfish in his willingness to educate junior RSRs and is an asset to UniFirst.”

Mitchell resides in Eaton with his wife, Ellen, has three children, Stephen, Amy, and David, and seven grandchildren. He enjoys kayaking, woodworking, fishing, working out, camping, and swimming.

Mitchell attributes winning the award to the support he receives from his entire team, as well as loving his job. “Ron Croatti [former UniFirst president and CEO] once told me, you have to love your job to do it well, and I do,” he says. “I also have the best loyal customers you can find and I do my best to keep them happy each day.”

As part of his award, Mitchell will receive an all-expenses-paid luxury vacation for two in November 2017 to the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort and Spa in Mexico, where he will be personally recognized by UniFirst president and CEO Steven Sintros and other company executives. Each winner will also drive away with a brand new UniFirst delivery truck adorned with an award insignia recognizing them as a superior customer service provider.
