National Trail and Tri-County North each have won three straight games.
Trail unbeaten in WOAC, Arrows still seeking 1st win
NEW PARIS — National Trail remained undefeated in Western Ohio Athletic Conference play with win over Mississinawa Valley and Preble Shawnee. In addition, the Blazers toppled Dayton Christian to run their winning streak to three games.
Trail opened the week with a 12-2 win over Dayton Christian on Monday, April 4. The Blazers scored in every inning, including five runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to earn the run-rule victory.
Isaac Arnold went 4-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and four RBIs. Wyatt House added two hits and two RBIs and Ben Browning collected three hits and scored two runs.
Browing also pitched a complete game two-hitter.
On Tuesday, Trail beat MV 12-2 behind a solid pitching performance from Arnold. The senior pitched all five innings allowing just three hits.
Chase Ruebush led the offense with two hits and four RBIs. Matt Toller added two hits and drove in three runs.
Trail scored five runs in the top of the first then added a run in the second, two more in the third and four in the fourth.
The Blazers closed out the week with a 7-6 win over Preble Shawnee.
After the Arrows tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the sixth, Trail responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to earn the win.
Cooper Smith had two hits and drove in two runs for the Blazers. Arnold was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI.
For Shawnee, Isaac Blankenship, Xander Davidson, Brayden Doran and Malehcai Stevenson each had hit.
In the Arrows only other game last week, the fell to Troy Christian 6-2 on April 4.
Doran had two of Shawnee’s six hits and drove in both runs, which tied the game in the second inning. TC added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Stevenson also added two hits.
Trail (4-3, 3-0 WOAC) was scheduled to host Twin Valley South on Tuesday, April 12 and will play at Arcanum on Thursday. They will close out the week hosting Mechanicsburg for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Shawnee (0-5, 0-2) was scheduled to host Tri-County North on Tuesday and will play at Bradford on Thursday. They will play Dixie on Saturday at Day Air Ballpark at noon.
North sweeps pair
LEWISBURG — Tri-County North ran its winning streak to three with wins over Northridge and Bradford last week.
North began the week with a 13-2 win at Northridge on Monday.
Four Panthers had at least two hits in the game.
Luke Eby went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Hunter Gray was 5-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Hunter Harry picked up two hits and drove in a run and Brett Woodyard added two hits and scored two runs.
A trio of pitchers (Carter Lake, Woodyard and Malachi Wright) combined to allow just six hits in six innings.
On Thursday, North built a 5-1 lead after four innings then had to hold off Bradford to earn the WOAC win.
Gray tossed a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out six to earn the win.
Braylon Keener had a hit and drove in two.
North scored twice in the first and added three more in the fourth.
The Panthers (3-2, 1-1 WOAC) was scheduled to pay at Preble Shawnee on Tuesday and will host Franklin Monroe on Thursday.
Miller K’s 18 in South win
WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley South got an 18 strikeout performance from junior Gage Miller en route to a 7-0 win over Mississinawa Valley on Friday, April 8.
Miller allowed just two hits to help the Panthers earn their first win of the season.
South scored twice in the first, twice in the fifth and added three more in the sixth.
Kasey Blair, Cais Kingsley and Grant Ulrich each drove in a run, while Riley Maggard brought in a pair.
The Panthers dropped their only other contest last week, falling 3-0 at Ansonia on Thursday.
South outhit the Tigers but couldn’t manage to string enough hits together to dent the plate.
Blair and Ulrich each went 2-for-3, while Maggard added the only other hit.
The Panthers (1-4, 1-2 WOAC) was scheduled to play at National Trail on Monday and will visit Carlisle on Saturday.
