Genealogy & History Fair seeks vendors

EATON — The Preble County Room, Preble County District Library’s Genealogy Department, recently announced the return of the Genealogy and History Fair on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 450 South Barron Street in Eaton.

“We are currently inviting local history organizations throughout the area to give researchers a single event to get acquainted with research opportunities and allow networking between the organizations. We are also seeking local vendors specializing in historical crafts and materials restoration. If you are interested in participating as a vendor, please contact the Preble County Room at 937-456-4970,” PCDL officials said in a press release.

Entering its third year, the Genealogy and History Fair provides valuable information to genealogists and historians in one central location. Before this event, people would have to travel all over southwest Ohio and southeast Indiana to continue their research. The Preble County Room Supervisor Angie Getter had the idea to bring the resources to a single spot.

“People will get an idea of where they might find information relevant to their genealogy or local history research without traveling all around the area,” Getter said. “With one visit to our genealogy fair, you’ll have an understanding of the places and services available to help you along your research journey.”

The event will also have food available for purchase and activities for kids by the Preble County District Library Youth Department. DNA kits from Ancestry.com and 23andMe will also be raffled off in a drawing.

The Genealogy and History Fair is an outdoor event. The rain date is scheduled for July 16.
