WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley Community Local Schools Board of Education met for its monthly meeting on Monday, June 27, to discuss the upcoming school year and changes to school policy which may be ahead.

During administrative reports, Alex Williams, the Twin Valley Food Service Director, informed the board that under the Keep Kids Fed Act of 2022, passed by Senate, the House, and signed by President Biden on June 25, reimbursement waivers for school lunches will be increased by 40 cents, and breakfast reimbursement will be increased by 15 cents. Williams explained this will be helpful while facing the current issues caused by inflation and general supply-chain shortages across the nation.

The board has also made the decision to update the cellphone policy for the school, adding distinctions on where students may or may not have their personal cellphones readily accessible to them.

According to members of the board, this is largely due to a growing trend on social media to record physical altercations between students which are then posted to the internet. The board has made the decision to penalize not only students who engage in physical altercations, but also students who record the violence for the purpose of entertainment.

The board will come to a more finalized decision on what penalties may apply to such behavior at a later date.

This is my official resignation, effective July 31, 2022.” Burkett has offered her services to the school as a substitute in the cafeteria, should they require assistance.
