EATON — On Saturday April 22, the Preble County Historical Society teamed up with Henny Penny, Parker Hannifin, the Eaton High School Colorguard, and others from the community with help from the Preble County United Way to clean up the PCHS Nature Reserve in honor of Earth Day.

Part of the cleanup included planting over 60 large tree species which were donated by the Preble Soil and Water Conservation District. With over 35 volunteers, the groups also worked on their prairie maintenance. Following up an earlier prescribed burn in March, the crew cut and cleaned up the leftover cedar trees and reused those trees for wildlife habitat.

PCHS continues to be a leader in local conservation efforts and will continue to improve in the future, said PCHS Director Lisa White. “Caring for our wide variety of ecosystems, is a high priority for us. We’re still learning everyday, but will do everything we can to share our findings through future education programs and knowledge from other professionals,” she noted.
