WEST ALEXANDRIA — On Tuesday, May 2, the Preble County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the relocation of Regional Medical Transport with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the business’ new location at 71 ½ North Main Street, in the village of West Alexandria.

“We’re happy to be here to celebrate with Wendell Mackie and Regional Medical Transport,” began Chamber Executive Director Karen Moss. “They’ve been in business for a little bit, but just relocated here. We’re so happy to have them as members of the chamber.”

Mackie, the owner and Chief Executive of Operations at Regional Medical Transport, took a moment to thank those attending, and speak briefly about the beginning stages of his company. “We’ve been in business a couple of years, but we started during the Covid times. You can imagine how bad that was while starting this up. We started out at PMG, over by the cemetery and funeral home, in the basement. My sister-in-law was gracious enough to help us out and get us started there.”

Mackie also thanked his employees for their participation in the event, “We have a lot of our employees in house, and guys, thank you very much for being here.”

Mackie explained Regional Medical Transport is a private medical transport company dedicated to assisting in emergency and non-emergency related medical transportation. According to Mackie, his business focuses on delivering medical patients from and to “point A to B” in mostly non-emergency related matters.

“Doctors visits, discharges, moving patients any way, shape or form. We move patients in wheelchairs, stretchers, or walking, it doesn’t matter. If you are a medical patient needing transport somewhere, we do that transport,” he said.

Mackie noted his company does not assist in 9-1-1 emergencies at the moment, but he is open to contracting to do such down the line.

“We do all of southwest Ohio and further. We’ve been to West Virginia, Tennessee, taking patients to different places. Those deployments are great, we love deployments. It’s fun and it’s good money,” Mackie added.

Mackie noted his company also assists FEMA during times of crisis.

Mackie said Regional Medical Transport will undoubtedly grow moving forward. “We’re going to start here, but my ultimate goal is another station in Springfield, right now. So, two stations here, then the ultimate goal is to go to Florida and start one down there,” he said.
