T’bolt runners qualify for regional finals

HUBER HEIGHTS — The preliminaries for the Division 1, Region IV regional track and field meet were held Wednesday evening at Wayne’s Heidkamp Stadium with athletes from 63 schools vying to qualify for Friday’s finals.

Only the top eight placers in each event advanced to the finals.

Northmont had two individuals and one relay team qualify for the finals during the intense competition.

Sophomore Dorian Brew qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.84 seconds. Tennel Bryant of Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller had the fastest qualifying time at 10.66.

Also advancing were Liam Acevedo of Franklin (10.67), Koy Beasley of LsSalle (10.69), Jordan Marshall of Moeller (10.74), Terhyon Nichols of Withrow (10.82), Jordan Gross of Butler (10.82), and Destined Ard of Wayne (10.88).

Northmont’s boys 4×100 relay team of Deuce Cortner, Dorian Brew, Dajuan Lamb and Nigel Glover qualified for the finals with the sixth fastest time of 43.08 seconds.

Other qualifiers were LaSalle 42.55 (B.J. Ross, Tyrone Brown, Donivan Stinson, Timiko Jackson), Fairfield 42.66 (Rayzier Jones, Isaiah Glover, Jordan Jackson, Xavier Isaacs), Wayne 42.79 (Sean Westmoreland, Key’Shawn Garrett, Charles Jackson Solomon, Destined Ard), Springfield 42.81 (Jayvin Norman, Tyrone Myers, Da’Shawn Martin, Aaron Scott), Princeton 43.01 (Peyton Russia, Dorian Williams, Emmanuel Harris, Jackson Woodall), Piqua 43.39 (Garrett Brown, Ryan Brown, Sam Schmiesing, Bryson Roberts), and Lakota West 43.54 (Jiovanni Wilson-Hunter, Sam Afari, Keenan Moore, Joel Nimoh).

Kaley Underwood qualified for the finals of the 300 meter hurdles with the sixth fastest time of 47.65 seconds.

Other qualifiers were Ric’Keya White of Wayne (44.08), Myah Boze of Ross (45.02), Katlyn Pham of Lakota East (45.90), Olivia Kenny of Princeton (47.62), Lily Eagleston of Mason (47.14), Chloe Trimmer of Beavercreek (47.97) and Kate Hartley of Mason (48.01).

Northmont’s girls 4×800 relay team did not qualify placing 15th in the preliminary at 10:21.94 (Jazlen Simpson, Serra Drosdak, Libbi Mergler, Abby Drosdak).

The boys 4×800 relay also failed to advance finishing 10th in 8:20.75 (Reed Diller, Lukas Rieben, Jackson Morgret, Daron Porter).

Raylin Turner finished 14th in the 100 meter dash in 12.73 seconds.

Northmont’s girls 4×200 relay missed the cut finishing 13th in 1:48.20 (Zoey Evers, Raylin Turner, Iyanna Thompson-Carson, Paige Auxier). The 8th fastest time and final qualifying time was 1:44.71 posted by Beavercreek.

Northmont’s girls 4×100 came in 13th at 51.24 seconds (Julianna Gunn, Iyanna Thompson-Carson, Jaida Garrett, Raylin Turner). Mt. Healthy snared the final qualifying spot in 49.72.

Eli Pettis finished 15th in the 300 hurdles at 43.16 seconds. The final qualifying spot was snared by Talin Malicote of Middletown in 41.09.

Zoey Evers finished 14th in the 200 meter dash at 27.16 seconds. Mackenzie Givens of Walnut Hills nailed the final qualifying slot in 25.52.

Northmont’s girls 4×400 relay team finished 15th in 4:20.30 (Kaley Underwood, Paige Auxier, Jazlen Simpson, Zoey Evers). The final qualifying time of 4:06.22 was recorded by Lakota West.

In the finals of the girls shot put Yuania Wilkinson-Harper finished 13th at 33-feet, 6.5-inches.
