Northmont’s Ben Dawson chips onto the No. 1 green against Brookville.
CLAYTON — On a sweltering hot Wednesday afternoon the Northmont boys golf team scored a 166-214 victory over Brookville at Meadowbrook at Clayton Golf Course.
Landon Trent, Isaiah Hoff and Jackson Kleismit recorded identical scores of 53 while Troy Peak carded a 55 for the Blue Devils.
J.J. Morgan led Northmont with a 39 to finish as match medalist. Hayden Davis had a 41, Brady Canan 42 and Eli Siehl 44.
Northmont improved its nine hole match record to 3-0 with the win over Brookville.
The Bolts have returned four athletes who played in every varsity match a year ago, led by seniors J.J. Morgan and Ben Dawson.
“After putting in a lot of work and time in the summer, Jack Siehl and Brady Canan have claimed the remaining two varsity spots to start the season.],” said Northmont coach Jackson Hobbs.
Expectations are high and Hobbs would love to see his Thunderbolts claim a spot in the district golf tournament this year for the first time since 2014.
Monday the Thunderbolts defeated Miamisburg 170-183. J.J. Morgan led Northmont with a 40 to finish as medalist. Ben Dawson shot 41, Hayden Davis 44 and Brady Canan had a 45.
Vincent Hammond led the Vikings with a round of 43 and Garrett Barnhart had a 44.
