PREBLE COUNTY — Thunderstorms on Tuesday, Sept. 24, led to a confirmed tornado in Preble County according to National Weather Service officials.
Based on damage report s, photographs and radar data, the National Weather Service in Wilmington has been able to confirm that a “weak tornado occurred in Preble County, east of Eaton, during the late afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 24,” NWS reported last week.
The National Weather Service coordinated with Preble County Emergency Management to conduct a remote damage survey to determine details regarding the magnitude and location of damage. On Wednesday, PCEMA officials reported NWS had confirmed an “EF0 tornado” with minor structure and tree damage.”
NWS estimated the tornado’s maximum wind speed of up to 65 mph, and estimated track length at 1.45 miles.
According to weather officials, this was the 71st confirmed tornado in Ohio this year.
