First Presbyterian Church welcomes new pastor

EATON — Ted Dennis preached and led worship for the first time as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Eaton, on Sunday, Feb. 25. Dennis is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and a Graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has served Churches in Tennessee, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

Dennis says he is excited to serve as the pastor of First Presbyterian because, “this church is eager to serve the community, to find ways to live the Christian life together, and to grow spiritually.”

First Presbyterian has a ministry to children and youth, including a weekly LOGOS program, weekly Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School and an annual mission trip for older youth. The members elect youth elders who serve on the church board. Youth representatives were on the Pastor Nominating Committee and children and youth are seen taking part in worship almost every Sunday.

Members serve the community with a blessing box at the side door of the church. Anyone is invited to “give what you can and take what you need.” First Presbyterian is a regular contributor to the Community Food Bank. Members of the church are inspired by their affiliation with First Presbyterian to serve the community through other agencies and organizations in Preble County and beyond.

The members and friends of First Presbyterian Church meet for worship every Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

An installation service for the new pastor will be held on Sunday, May 6, at 4 p.m. The community is invited to worship with First Presbyterian at that service. The community is also invited to attend regular worship services, or to join in any of the activities at First Presbyterian Church. A calendar of events can be found on the website: www.eatonfpc.org.

First Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Anyone who would like more information may email or phone the church office at [email protected] or 937-456-3754.
