EATON — Do you like the Beatles? How about Latin music, like the Mambo Jambo? Perhaps some movie music, like Guardians of the Galaxy, or classics like Singin’ in the Rain?

Remember the British “Invasion” of the Sixties, with hits like “A Groovy Kind of Love” and “Mellow Yellow?”

You’ll hear these and much more when the Eaton Area Community Band presents its free Summer Pops Concert on Tuesday, June 6, at the Eaton Performing Arts Center, located at Eaton High/Middle School. The hour-long show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The EACB is directed by Tad Stewart, former director of bands for the Eaton Community Schools. Members come from all walks of life, and range in age from high school to well into retirement. All members have one thing in common — making good music.

The summer schedule for the band continues with the traditional Fourth of July Holiday Concert at the Preble County Historical Farm. The show will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, followed by a performance by the Eaton Area Community Choir.

On July 9, the band will perform at Vancrest Nursing Home at 2 p.m., for its annual ice cream social. Later that same day, the band will be playing a combined concert with the Greene County Civic Band. This concert will be held at Shawnee Park, just north of downtown Xenia. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
