TVS Registration

Twin Valley South High School/Middle School Office is open weekdays from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. beginning July 31. The first day for students will be Wednesday, Aug. 16 and students new to the district my register beginning Wednesday. Aug. 2 To register a new student, parents need to bring a birth certificate, medical records, social securty number, two proofs of residency and custody papers, if applicable. For high school students, please call the school at 937-839-4693 to schedule an appointment. High school students may pick up schedules beginning Wednesday. Aug. 2. Schedule changes may be made through Tuesday, Aug. 8.

WA Community Picnic

The West Alexandria Business/Community/School Partnership committee will hold the annual Community Picnic on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Commons at the Twin Valley South School. Since the start of the picnic in 1992, this annual event has been a very popular event to start the school year and bring the community together. The cost of the meal tickets is $1.50. There will be drawings throughout the evening for door prizes donated by merchants as well as the usual entertainment. You can buy additional tickets for the drawing for $1 each.

Farmer’s Market

Come and support the WA Celebration Committee’s weekly Farmers’ Market every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. through the end of August, held in Peace Park. All funds raised are used by the Celebration Committee to provide the community with fireworks for July 4, and new toys for Santa Villa in December. Funds also will be used for needed repairs at Santa Villa. Contact Carol Lunsford at 937-839-4085 for additional information or to reserve your space.

American Legion, Post 322

The Senior Fun Bunch meets every Thursday from 1-4 p.m. for music and dancing.

Euchre and Ladies Night every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. with a 50/50 raffle.

Family Fun Day will be Sunday, Aug. 6.

Foodbank

The Foodbank served 44 families during June, including 13 seniors, 47 children and totaling 142 individuals. Items needed are egg noodles, tuna, ramen noodles, shampoo, and toothpaste. We are now accepting fresh garden produce and school supplies. The Foodbank is open from 10 a.m.-noon on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 937-839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at St. John Lutheran Ingomar and Salem Lutheran Church on the first Sunday of each month.

Church of the Brethren

The next Free Community Meal will be Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 22 E. Oak Street.

Salem Lutheran Church

Wanted: dirty cars — wash off those dirty cars from the fair at our Car Wash, Saturday, Aug. 5, in the church parking lot. Donations will benefit the Church Youth.

In celebration of our 200 year anniversary, we will be having a float in the Preble County Fair Parade July 29.

The Middle School Ministry meets Sunday evenings at 7 p.m.

We are collecting new stuffed animals or monetary donations for the Stuffed Animal Therapy Ministry, helping children of our county in times of crisis.

The Women of the Church are collecting dimes in water bottles for missions.

We are accepting your unwanted or recently expired coupons to donate to “Coups for Troops” where coupons up to two months expired can be used overseas in the military commissaries.

St. John Church

Youth meet Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

We will provide a meal to the Homeless Shelter July 27 at 6 p.m.
