EATON — The Diabetes Support Group meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Preble County Senior Center, 800 East St. Clair Street, Eaton. The meetings are led by a Diabetes Educator from Wayne HealthCare, Greenville. The topic of the meeting is “Avoiding Mindful Eating Traps”. The October meeting will be the second Thursday of the month and the topic will be “Just the Facts – An Overview of Diabetes.”

After a break for the holiday months of November and December, the Diabetes Support Group will continue meeting on the third Thursday of the month starting in January 2016.

The Parkinsons Support Group will meet on Sept. 17, from 3-4 p.m. at the Preble County Senior Center. Facilitator for the meeting is Jim Straszheim. Everyone is invited to attend the meeting. For questions, contact Jim at [email protected] or 937-456-6352.

The Ohio Senior Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) will present “Medicare 101” at the Preble County Senior Center at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5. Learn about upcoming changes to Medicare; receive help identifying your best coverage for 2016, and more. The Thursday Night Weekly Dance takes place from 4-7 p.m. at The Grange at 501 Nation Avenue, Eaton. The dance features delicious food, with a $1 menu, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. We have a new terrific band that many of you have already heard at some of our previous special events. The Silvertones, a local band from Camden, will provide an enjoyable evening of classic rock & roll and country music for your listening and dancing pleasure. Band members include Michael Powers on piano; Mike Buckley, lead guitar; Danny Witt, Bass; and Gary “Pete” Peters on drums. Admission is $3 per individual/$5 per couple. It’s a fun evening for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at our next Thursday Night Dance.

The Decade’s Diner, complete with juke box, graffiti wall, and striking “fab 50’s” decorations, is a unique location for lunch. The menu features many delicious items and a couple daily specials. The Diner is also the site of our daily Congregate Meal. The Decade’s Diner is located at Preble County Senior Center, 800 East St. Clair Street, Eaton. It is open for lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Diner is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Carry-out is available. Call 937-456-4947 to place your order.

The Preble County Council on Aging needs volunteers to help deliver meals to seniors and shut-ins in the county. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday, except holidays, to seniors in Preble County. Drivers work two to three hours a day delivering meals in their vehicle to senior citizens. Drivers have a dedicated route, and can work one, two or more days per week, or just one day per month. Adult drivers of any age are eligible to volunteer. Drivers receive mileage reimbursement.
