SOUTHERN PREBLE COUNTY — A benefit rap songfest will be held to benefit Joesph DeVaughn of Somerville who is still in need of a kidney transplant. The event will be held on Saturday, Sep. 23, 5 p.m. at 12297 Ohio 744 in Camden. Admission is $5 per person and $20 to rap. Pictures of your performance or with the performers for a donation. Come out and support this very worthy cause.

Scholarship event: The Jill Taylor Memorial Pow der Puff Football Game is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 25, 7:30 p.m. at the Preble Shawnee football field. Entry fee is $5 per player or coach and spectators are $2. Forms can be obtained outside the athletic director’s office. They are still looking for concession volunteers for the event as seniors vs. sophomores and juniors vs. freshmen all to benefit scholarship recipients in honor of Jill Taylor.

Birthdays: Macy Shaw, James Asbury, Will Harrison.

Pancake Breakfast: Gratis Fire and EMS will hold a pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 405 Harrison St. Adults are $5. They will also still be taking donations for flood victims both the Saturday and Sunday, 12-4 p.m., as well as at West Elkton and Camden Fire Stations.

Thanks: According to a recent post by Gratis Assistant Fire Chief Chris Allen, a thanks is in order to everyone who helped and made the fire department’s recent boot drive a success.

Stomp out Addiction: Plan now to attend a pulled pork benefit to be held at the Gratis Eagles #4289 on Oct. 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. Proceeds go to awareness to stop addiction in memory of Gratis Twp. and Preble Shawnee graduate Logan Apking.

Bicentennial: The closing ceremony for the Gratis Bicentennialtime capsule has been moved to Oct. 8, at Herb Coleman Memorial Park on Ohio 122. Festivities for the day include face painting, blowups and raffle of Peter Frampton Album along with soveniers for sale also.
