Corrected Date
The corrected date for the Adult Halloween Dance at the Valhalla Lodge is October 31st (Saturday night) at 8:00 p.m. The date within the October Viking was incorrect.
Angela Combs and One Mississippi will be the band. There will be a costume contest with three separate categories. You will be able to purchase Gift Raffle tickets that night.
The Halloween Walk (trick-r-treat) for children 12 and under will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Valhalla Lodge. Candy donations can be dropped off at the guardhouse or the office. Cookies and baked goods accepted on the day of the event. All donations are appreciated. Marine Thank You
Marine Lakes Management Committee thanks the Lakengren community for its support for the three great summer bass tournaments. Benefits from the events will purchase fish for the Lakengren lakes. Also they thank the Dragons Club for supplying food at all their tourneys.
Annual Meeting
The Lakengren Property Owners Association Annual Meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Lodge. All Lakengren members are welcome to attend to hear standing committee reports and an update on the pool replacement project. Any property owner in good standing interested in serving on the Board of Trustees may declare their candidacy on that date and nominated from the floor.
Winter Hours
New winter hours for Hap’s Restaurant in the lodge have begun. Lunches served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dinners served Thursday through Saturday 4 to 9 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
Fire Department Dinner
The Gasper Township Fire Department Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Sunday, October 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the firehouse, 4195 Paint Creek Road. $8 for all you can eat, kids 0-3 eat free and ages 4 to 12 just $4.00. Benefits support a stabilization unit for the GTFD.
Dedicated and Considerate
To Charlie Rider, a conscientious and dedicated member of the Lakengren Waste Management, who recently missed seeing a customer/resident on his trash route, and pursued his feelings.
Because he sought the help of friends, neighbors, and the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, a Lakengren resident was helped by the fire department and Care Flighted to a hospital. Rider went above and beyond his job description and it was greatly appreciated.
