Foodbank

The Foodbank served 54 families during June. This includes 17 seniors, 56 children and totals 169 individuals. Items needed are tuna, toothpaste, and shampoo. Fresh garden produce is welcome and school supplies are being collected. The Foodbank is open from 10a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches the first Sunday of each month.

Our Own Backyard

Join us for a Summer Outreach for families, young and old, in Our Own Backyard, Aug 10-12. This event runs Friday through Saturday, Aug. 10-11, from 6-8 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 12 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 70 E. Dayton Street. On Friday and Saturday we’ll have meals, devotions, fellowship and water games. On Sunday, Aug. 12, join us for outdoor worship and a church picnic with games, inflatables and relay races!

Sorority Garage Sale

Omicron Sigma Sorority is holding its annual, gigantic, 2-day multi-family garage sale Thursday, Aug. 2, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 3, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is located at the Preble County Youth Center at the corner of Park Avenue and Decatur Street in Eaton. It will feature men, women, and children’s clothing, household items, books, and much more. All proceeds go to Preble County charities. Omicron Sigma Sorority is a philanthropic sorority located in Preble county. We also award a $1000 annual scholarship to a qualified student who are attending a Preble County School who wishes to further his/her education at an institution of higher learning or training.

Farmer’s Market

The WA Celebration Committee’s weekly Farmers’ Market meets in Peace Park every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. through September. All funds raised are used by the Celebration Committee to provide the community with fireworks for July 4, and new toys for Santa Villa in December. Funds also will be used for needed repairs at Santa Villa. Contact Carol Lunsford at 839-4085 for additional information or to reserve your space.
