Kids and Families:

Winter Storytime registration starts soon.

You can sign up for Winter Storytime sessions at the Eaton Library right now. Be sure to sign up early, as spots are limited. Each section lasts six weeks, and there are sections geared to age groups from six months to 12 years. The winter session of storytime will run from Jan. 6 through Feb. 11.

Tween Filmmakers Club Workshop

Come check out the Eaton Library’s new green screen kit! You can make short films, take pictures, and apply green screen effects! A light snack will be provided at the program on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1-2 p.m. No registration is required. The Filmmakers Club is for ages 8-12.

Christmas Magic with Jim Kleefeld

Jim Kleefeld is bringing his magic tricks wrapped in holiday cheer to the Camden Library on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Tied with a comedy ribbon, Jim’s light, bright, colorful program is especially geared toward children and families. Kids have great fun watching and participating in the show, but Jim also puts in a lot of humor and special touches just for the grown-ups.

Night Out with Daddy

Registration is now open for the Eaton Library’s popular Night Out with Daddy program. Children and their dad or male caregiver can have a night out at the library. We’ll have a classic children’s story, make a personalized craft, enjoy a snack, and all will receive a gift!

Night Out with Daddy will be on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

There is limited seating. Register for a spot in person at the library or call (937) 456-4331 to register.

Homeschool Hour: Reptiles

Join us as we learn about reptiles in this hands-on program! Homeschool Hour is geared to students ages 8-12 but is open to all homeschool students and their educators. December’s Homeschool Hour will be Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. at the Library Administration Office at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

Tween Craft: Toothpick Painting

Kids age 8-12 can use paint and glue to create crazy patterns! Dip paper in your glue concoctions to create works of art or let the glue dry to create lovely ornaments! Toothpick Painting will be at each library on the following dates and times:

Monday, Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. at the West Manchester Branch

Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 4:30 p.m. at the New Paris Branch

Check out your local library’s holiday open house and other holiday events for crafts and treats geared to the holiday season:

Christmas Open House at the New Paris Library on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Christmas in the Village at the West Alexandria Library on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 4-7 p.m. Pick up your punch card at the library, visit locations in the village to get it punched, and return it to the library by 7 p.m. We’ll draw prizes then.

Holiday Fun at the Camden Library on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. Bring a snack to share and make a Christmas craft!

Christmas Open House at the West Manchester Library on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Christmas Open House at the Eldorado Library on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Holiday Open House at the Eaton Library on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 2-5 p.m. Eric Loy will be playing guitar tunes from 2-4 p.m. Wii U gamin for all ages from 3-4:30 p.m., and holiday basket giveaways at 4:30 p.m.

Teens (grades 6-12):

Teen Creative Writing Group

Local teens can spur their creative juices at the Teen “Write On!” writing club. We’ll have creative writing prompts, snacks, and you can talk with other teens about writing. You can share aloud, but you don’t have to!

Join us on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Eaton Branch Library (301 N. Barron St.).

Splatoon Tournaments!

Have you played the virtual paintball video game Splatoon for the Wii U? You can play in the library’s Splatoon tournaments! Come enjoy some snacks and play with friends! Every player gets a prize, and the tournament winner will take home a squid hat! Catch the Splatoon Tournament at:

Novel Discussion Book Club

Join us at the Eaton Branch of Preble County District Library for our monthly book discussion. This month, we’ll meet Thursday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “A New York Christmas” by Anne Perry. The Novel Discussion book club meets the third Thursday of every month.

Adult Crafting: Holiday Ornaments

During December, we’ll be crafting holiday ornaments at your local library branch. Make something to take home or give away to someone special this season. The holiday ornament craft will be at each library on the following dates and times:

We’ll have an afternoon of crafting for adults at the West Elkton Library on Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 3-5 p.m. Stop in to make 3D holiday greeting cards and ornaments for the holiday season. All supplies will be furnished.
