American Legion Post 322

Veterans Day ham, beans and cornbread, served to the public on Monday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Euchre and Ladies Night every Wednesday evening. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Euchre starts at 7 p.m. with a 50/50 raffle.

Sr. Fun Bunch meets every Thursday from 1-4 p.m. for music and dancing at 1477 Ohio 503 South.

TVS Class of 2024 BINGO Fundraiser

Come out Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5-8 p.m. and help the Twin Valley South Class of 2024 eighth-graders raise money for their Washington D.C. trip, which will take place March 24-27. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo begins at 6 p.m. at the WA Fire Dept., 25 E. Dayton Street. Open Seating; first come, first served. Must be 18 years old to play. There will be a light snack bar with drinks available for purchase. You are welcome to bring your own snacks/drinks.

Quarter Auction

The West Alexandria Celebration Committee is holding a Quarter Auction at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, at the American Legion Post 322, 1477 OH 503 South. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised will help provide new gifts for children at Santa Villa and fireworks for July 4.

Firehouse Bingo

Bingo is back. Start time is 6 p.m. every Thursday for the Early Bird games. We have several progressive games we play throughout the season. Come out and try your luck. Doors open at 5 p.m. open seating, no RSVP on seating, and first come first served. Help spread the word, the higher number of attendees, the higher pay-out bracket. Light snack bar with drinks available for purchase at 25 E. Dayton Street.

Turkey Shoot, TVRGC

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Turkey Shoot at 1 p.m. on Sundays, November 10, and 17. The public is welcome and there is a lunch stand in the Clubhouse. Contact H.K. Steiner at 232-4504, Curtis Early at 533-3226 or Paul Price at 248-1083.

Venison for Food Banks

The Venison for Food Banks of Preble County program is ongoing. Anyone who takes a deer can donate all or part of the meat for the Foodbanks. We have sponsors who will take care of the processing fees. You may contact Brad Turner, Preble County Game Warden, or Curtis Early from Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club at 937-533-3226.

Christmas Craft Bazaar

The 2019 Christmas Craft and Vendor Bazaar, sponsored by the WA Celebration Committee, will be Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Twin Valley School Commons. Enjoy your holiday shopping with items from our unique, local crafters, and enjoy refreshments as well.

Christmas in the Village

The West Alexandria Celebration Committee is hosting the annual Christmas in the Village, Sunday, Dec. 8 from 4-7 p.m. starting at the Town Hall, 16 N. Main Street. Pick up your punch card at the West Alexandria Branch Library, visit all the businesses listed and receive an entry for a chance to win an awesome prize. Anyone with a lighted vehicle is invited to join our lineup for the Christmas parade at 4:15np.m. and help welcome Santa to our Village. Decorate your car, truck, trailer, bike, golf cart, etc. Parade lineup will be on Education Lane at Twin Valley South School. Parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will proceed down Ohio 503 with a brief stop at the Town Hall and then proceed to Santa Villa/Peace Park where Santa will greet the children from 5-7 p.m. Each child receives their choice of a toy, candy cane, or a pair of gloves – all for free. Families are encouraged to bring their cameras and get family photos with Santa. Door Prize Drawings will take place at 7 p.m. inside the Town Hall. Punch cards are for adults only. While you are at the library be sure to sign up for door prizes. We will have 3 age groups for door prizes: 12 and under, 13-17, and 18 and up.

Annual Turkey Supper

The West Alexandria Church of the Brethren Annual Turkey Supper is Saturday, Nov. 9 from 4:30-7 p.m. at 22 East Oak Street. Costs are: Adults $9, Children ages 4-12, $4, and Children under 3 are free. Carry-out is available, and it is elevator accessible for dine-in. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

CCC Homecoming Concert

Join the Community Christian Church Praise Team for dinner and an evening of Southern Gospel favorites on Friday, Nov. 8, or Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 Dorsey Akers Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person or $7 for children ten and under. We will be serving chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cinnamon apples, drinks and dessert. For reservations call Jenny lovely at 937 219-4410.

St. John Church

The Rev. Mark Moore will be honored on behalf of his retirement with a Carryin Open House after Sunday Worship, Nov. 17, from 11:15 a.m.-1 p.m. at 20 E. South Street.

Salem Lutheran Church

Thank-offering Sunday is Nov. 10. The Thank-offering will be used to support Wernle, Adopt-a-Family, and the West Alex Food Bank. Unless specified on your donation, the offering will be divided equally.

The Women of SWNALC will elect officers for the upcoming year directly following the Thank Offering Service on Nov. 10.

Salem is participating in the Pop Tab Challenge, sponsored by Thrivent, for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Place tabs in the container inside the East door.

Salem Kids meet every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. for a meal followed by a program from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Kids age 3 years through sixth grade are welcome to be a part of Salem Kids which includes a meal, Bible lessons, fun activities and service projects. The Men’s Bible Study and Breakfast meets in the Fellowship Hall the third Saturday of each month; next on Nov. 16.

A Casserole Care Team has been established, providing ready-made, frozen casseroles with baking instructions for those in need.

Middle School Ministry meets every Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Donate your unwanted or recently expired coupons to Coups for Troops to assist military overseas where commissaries accept manufacturer coupons up to two months expired. There is a designated basket in the church library.
