EATON — Giving Tuesday: According to the GivingTuesday.org website, the day is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of “radical generosity” (I love this). GT was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourage people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. #GivingTuesday

The past several years, PCCOA has participated in Giving Tuesday. We have asked our community to help sponsor Meals on Wheels for seniors in Preble County. Why is this needed? Currently, one in four people in Preble County are over the age of 60 and by 2030 this number will increase to one in three. Before COVID, we were delivering 150 hot meals every day to qualifying seniors. Today, that number has increased to 250. The highest number we have delivered is 309 meals in one day. Wow! We need your help. Let’s get radical!

Please consider making a donation to help our senior population stay healthy and at home (where they want to be). Giving Tuesday is Nov. 30. We will keep our campaign open until Dec. 31, 2021.

If you are interested in Sponsoring a Senior or making a donation, the following options are available to you:

•In person with cash, check, credit card

•PayPal through our website, Square and Facebook

Activities

• Keep letting us know what you are thankful for this year.

• A representative from U.S. Representative Warren Davidson’s office will be here at noon. This is your chance to ask that question you’ve been wanting to ask.

• BINGO at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Thank you, Maple Gardens for sponsoring.

• End of the month billiards tournament at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

• We are closed on Thursday and Friday so our staff may enjoy time with their families. We wish you a safe and happy long weekend.

Holiday Food Drive

PCCOA is now taking food or monetary donations for our annual food box drive. These boxes are distributed during the holidays to seniors in need. Any donation will be appreciated. Specifically, we are looking for facial tissues, napkins (100 count), paper towels, toilet paper, soup, spam, tuna, canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, oatmeal, applesauce, pudding, jelly, gelatin, cookies, and cereal.

Please bring donations to Preble County Council on Aging, 800 East St. Clair Street, Eaton, Ohio 45320 or mail monetary donations to same address, Attention: Wanda Winter, Christmas Basket. Deadline for donations is Friday, Dec. 3.

If your company is looking for a corporate volunteer opportunity, delivering meals is a great way to get involved. We work with you on a schedule that works for your employees. Even if it’s just one day a month, we would love to have you volunteer. Please call for all the details.

Sponsor-a-Senior — Meals on Wheels: You can make a difference in a senior’s life by donating just $12.50 a week. That’s $2.50 per day; $50 a month or $600 a year. Any amount will help. Your donation provides so much more than a hot, nutritious meal. You help provide a visit by one of our trained drivers to bring not only a meal, but a wellness check, a smile and conversation, and help with tasks such as bringing in the mail. Our drivers look forward to checking on his/her seniors each week day and the seniors look forward to seeing our drivers. No amount is too small. Please consider making a donation by calling 937-456-4947. #meals4seniors #MOWPreble
