Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt

The West Alexandria Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. on the west side practice fields behind the Twin Valley South school facilities. There will be prizes for each age category. Bring your own basket or bag to collect the hidden eggs in.

WABO Opening Day

West Alexandria Baseball Organization’s Opening Day will take place on Saturday, April 30, beginning with a parade through town starting at 11 a.m. Introduction of teams and games will take place following the parade at the WABO Park, 199 W. Oak Street.

BBQ chicken or pork chop dinner

West Alexandria Celebration Committee is offering smoked chicken or pork chop carry-out dinners available on Sunday, April 24, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the West Alexandria Fire House, 25 E. Dayton Street. Half a smoked chicken with dinner roll, applesauce and a choice of green beans or baked beans is $8. A 3/4 lb. smoked pork chop with dinner roll, applesauce and a choice of green beans or baked beans is $9. Food is prepared by Hog Wild Smokehouse Ribs.

Orders need to be placed by Sunday, April 17, to ensure a dinner. We do make a few extra meals but they are sold on a first-come first-serve basis. Orders may be called into Carol Lunsford at 839-4085 or messaging West Alexandria Celebration Committee on Facebook with your order, name and phone number. All funds raised will be used to help pay for the July 4th fireworks.

Fireworks donations

The West Alexandria Celebration Committee is asking for donations to help with the annual July 4 fireworks display. Donations can be made at Twin Valley Bank under Celebration Committee. As everyone can imagine, the price has gone up so we need and appreciate your help. One way to help raise money for fireworks and find your new, favorite Scentsy items is to explore the shoppable online catalog with your host, Ashley Wilson, Star Consultant, at 937-733-2664, [email protected] or ashleyw22.scentsy.us. There will be a Ticket Auction for the July 4 fireworks at the WA Firehouse on Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Coffeehouse Conversations

Kierston’s Coffeestop, located at 12 S. Main Street, is hosting Coffeehouse Conversations every Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop in for complimentary coffee, a cookie, or baked-goods. Bring a friend and pull up a chair for an open, honest and friendly conversation about faith, life, and today’s social issues and how they relate to the Bible with a local pastor.

Euchre every Wednesday at 7 p.m. $5 entrance fee, 50/50 raffle.

Senior Fun Bunch meets every Thursday from 1-4 p.m.

BINGO

West Alexandria Fire Dept. BINGO takes place every Thursday. Doors open at 5 p.m. with open seating; first come, first served. Early Bird games start at 6 p.m. to help those coming after work. All players must be 18 or over. We have several progressive games going on at 25 E. Dayton Street.

The April Tween/Teen Grab and Go Kit is available now, while supplies last. Stop by or call to reserve a free kit today.

Finish a puzzle and not sure what to do with it? Swap it for one that is new to you. Stop by the WA Library for our Community Puzzle Swap. Bring a puzzle, or two or three, and exchange for another, but please limit yourself to only taking two puzzles per visit.

Foodbank

The Foodbank continues to be open regular hours from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 937-839-1615 for additional information. Anyone in need of food may come to the Foodbank and remain outside in your vehicle. We are thankful for the continuing support of our community and look forward to serving you.

Maundy Thursday observance will take place April 14, with a 5:30 p.m. dinner in the fellowship hall with communion to follow.

Easter Sunday breakfast is at 8:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall. An egg hunt will take place at 9:30a.m. on the front lawn. Easter worship takes place in the sanctuary at 10 a.m.

Saturday Mens’ Breakfasts meet at 9 a.m. All men are welcome.

A new Bible Study has started meeting on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

Pastor Dan’s Bible Study meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the church lounge or via Zoom.

The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study meets every third Saturday at 7:30 a.m. for prayer, Bible study, breakfast and fellowship in the fellowship hall.

The Women of the Church are accepting donations for the annual April Showers event on April 19. We will be accepting all sizes of new underwear for both men and women but no baby sizes. Donations will be taken to the Women’s Council meeting for Bethany Graceworks, as has been a practice since the 1970s. All monetary donations will be doubled by the Graceworks treasury and given to the Preble County Common Good Shop, formerly the Once Around Shop. A basket has been placed in the church lounge.
