BBP seeking help with camps

EATON — Buckeye Blitz Paintball (BBP), Eaton, was awarded two government contracts with the Air Force to host summer camps for kids living on military bases around the world including Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and around the United States.

BBP is also looking for staff, preferably teachers or college education majors, who would like to be instructors this summer for a Science Camp.

BBP will instruct kids ages 8-18 in a science camp which will include robotics, geology, scientific method, electricity and solar power, astronomy, chemistry, and rocketry. They will also host a paintball camp for kids ages 11-18 which will teach teamwork, game safety, stealth techniques, and will include life lessons that parallel the sport.

Tim Gray and David Maynard have worked with the Air Force over the past eight years providing a variety of summer camp programs for children of parents who are serving in the Air Force.

“We feel this is a great way to give back to the families who are serving our country in the Air Force,” Maynard said.

Tim Gray, who has led several camps on overseas Air Force bases, commented, “People don’t realize how much these families sacrifice being away from other family members and friends for long periods of time. They don’t have access to all of the amenities here in the US. Then they are constantly moving. They make new friends and in a couple of years they are uprooted and move to another location. Sometimes we see the same kids during one of our camp programs but at different locations because they have moved.”

This summer will be no different as they travel around the world and the U.S. meeting military children who want to have an opportunity to experience summer camp. Their faces will light up as they get a chance to build a robot, experiment in rocket propulsion, or feel the exhilaration of playing paintball with their friends.

Buckeye Blitz is looking for two instructors for this summer to help host the science camps at seven military bases.

“We prefer to hire teachers or college students who are education majors,” Maynard said.

They will travel for seven or eight weeks hosting the science camps around the US at the Air Force Base’s Youth Centers. Anyone interested can contact Maynard at [email protected] for more information.
