EATON — It’s nearing time for the most wonderful time of the year…for readers, that is. You can sign up beginning June 1 at any Preble County District Library branch to take part and start reading for your chance to take home some awesome prizes!
For kids 12 and under, you’ll receive a ticket to track your reading time. For every hour you read, you’ll earn a coin. You can choose from an array of toys to buy with your coins. The more time spent reading, the more toys you can buy.
There’ll also be a ton of great programs at every library branch. View the schedules at the library’s online calendar. For teens in grades 6-12, you’ll have the option of completing Library Challenges and/or Online Challenges. Complete Library Challenges at any of the library branches, and you’ll complete Online Challenges at the Teen section of the library’s website (www.preblelibrary.org/teenscene). For each challenge you complete, you’ll receive a drawing ticket for our prize drawings at the end of the Summer Reading Program.
The more you read the better chance you’ll have of winning a 6th generation iPod Touch with a $50 iTunes gift card or some Kings Island tickets. With the Library Challenges, you can also earn up to three cool prizes throughout the summer (T-shirts, paracord bracelets, and sneaker keychains), which will be available at your local library branch. Completing Online Challenges will enter you into weekly drawings at each branch for prizes like Sharpie keychains, giant gummie bears, Wayfarer-style sunglasses, and more!
Thanks to a generous donation from the Eaton Rotary Club, the first 100 teens to sign up for Summer Reading will receive a paperback copy of The Young Elites by Marie Lu.
For adults, when you sign up, you’ll receive a free Summer Reading theme bag filled with Summer Reading goodies. For each book you read and movie you watch, you’ll fill out a short review and turn it in at your local library branch. We’ll draw from those reviews for grand prize drawings at the end of the Summer Reading season.
Make sure to check out some of the great programs we have lined up in keeping with this year’s theme: Exercise your Mind, Body, and Spirit. You can see a schedule of all Summer Reading programs on the library’s online calendar. There is a lot going on this summer, so make sure to use the drop-down boxes at the top of the calendar to limit the calendar results by age group and branch location.
