NEW PARIS — National Trail Board of Education meetings for 2017 will continue to be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the National Trail School K-12 Facility.

During the board’s organizational and regular board meeting on Monday, Jan. 9, David Harris was elected board president and Cindy Lee was elected vice president.

Gary Moore was appointed as Legislative Liaison, Lee was appointed as Student Achievement Liaison, and Moore was appointed as the Preble County Youth Foundation Representative.

The board authorized continuation of the treasurer’s bond at $50,000 and to approve standing authorizations for the treasurer.

The board approved employment for the following certificated personnel:

•Head Boys’ Golf Coach Troy Ferguson

•Varsity Head Football Coach Randy Kerns

•Head Girls’ Golf Coach Jordan Schlamb

The board approved employment of the following non-certificated personnel:

•Middle School Cross Country Coach Chris Byrd

•High School Cross Country Coach James Byrd

•Middle School Head Football Coach Jeremy Horn

•Eighth Grade Girls’ Volleyball Coach Cathy Weist

During November, $962,832.65 in bills was paid. Payroll for November was $494,068.38. Bills paid during December totaled $505,194.51. Payroll for December was $478,339.97.

The following resolutions were approved:

•The Ohio School Boards Association annual membership dues in the amount of $4,106.

•The Ohio Education Policy Institute 2017 membership dues in the amount of $1,000.

•An agreement with the Board of Health of the Preble County General Health District, for services including administering PPD skin tests and/or immunizations.

•Amendments to the standard mileage rate from $0.54 cents a mile to $0.535 center per mile.

•Jason Cummings as Volunteer Assistant Boys’ Middle School Basketball Coach for the 2016-2017 school year.

The next Board of Education meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the National Trail School K-12 Facility.
