It Gets Better residency comes to Oxford

OXFORD — Instead of the monthly community meeting, Oxford Area PFLAG invites the public to participate in a luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon will work as a Facilitated Community Dialogue with the It Gets Better residency.

In 2013, the Oxford United way hosted the first Facilitated Dialogue during the It Gets Better residency sponsored by the Performing Arts Series at Miami University. The residency, returning in February to Oxford, will once again take the pulse of our community on issue surrounding LGBTQ+ rights, inclusion, bullying, diversity, acceptance, climate and community support.

Many positive outcomes followed this informative discussion last time including the reformation of the Oxford Area PFLAG organization, providing nearly 100 individuals with Safe Zone training and community wide educational opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community and their supporters and allies.

The goal this year is to not only continue and grow the efforts in the greater Oxford area, but to determine what needs and concerns are present in the communities surrounding the Talawanda School District as well.

Because space is limited and food is being provided, they ask that those who plan on attending RSVP no later than noon on Friday, Feb. 17. Please email [email protected] or call 513-523-0991 to RSVP.
