CAMDEN — Four Preble County residents were arrested after a bank robbery in Camden last week.
According to Camden Police Chief Matt Spurlock, on Monday, Feb. 27, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a male entered the First Financial Bank located at 4 S. Main Street in Camden, approached the teller and produced a note demanding money.
After getting the money, Spurlock said in a press release, the male left the bank on foot and began to run east on E. Central Ave. (Ohio 725.)
“The male was then picked up by a male and two females who waited in a pickup truck parked in an alleyway just one block from the bank robbery,” Spurlock noted.
Approximately 10 minutes prior to the robbery the same male had entered Somerville National Bank located at 48 N. Main St., Camden, Spurlock said.
“The male later advised authorities he had full intentions to rob this bank but did not, instead left and committed the robbery offense at First Financial Bank,” Spurlock said.
The male suspect who went into the bank was later identified as Steven Anderson, 32. The other three parties were identified as Justin Schleiger, 30; Lori Clark, 41 and Helen Stewart, 42.
All four were arrested on Feb. 27, and have since been formally charged.
Steven Anderson is facing charges of robbery and attempted robbery as well as charges related to heroin and cocaine; Justin Schleiger, Lori Clark and Helen Stewart were all charged with complicity to robbery and attempted robbery. Stewart also faces drug-related charges. All four remained in the Preble County Jail at press time.
