Oxford United Way seeking unsung heroes nominations

OXFORD — The United Way of Oxford and Vicinity seeks to recognize local heroes committed to advancing the common good in its community.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2017 Unsung Heroes Awards in five categories:

Youth award: 18 years and younger and still enrolled in elementary, middle or high school and actively engaged in volunteer or community activities.

College student award: Students who are enrolled at least part-time in a post-secondary program and serve as active leaders on and off campus in volunteer activities.

Emerging leaders award: Individuals between the ages of 19-40 who are up and coming future leaders in our community.

Live United award: No age limitation but individuals should have extensive history of being active agents of change within the community.

Group award: Nominees should meet the criteria in one of the four categories as a group.

Submit nominations by June 28.

Nominees and award winners will be recognized at the Unsung Heroes ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
