Open house

The public is invited to join Home Is The Foundation (H.I.T. Foundation) for an Open House at the new Eagles Point (former Eaton High/Middle School), 307 N. Cherry St. The event will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 2-5 p.m. The group will be conducting tours of the gymnasium, theater, The Bistro at Eagle’s Point, and designated apartments with refreshments to follow. Entrance to the open house will be located on the Barron Street side and marked with balloons. This event is open to the public and The H.I.T. Foundation hopes to see everyone there!

BOE office closed

The Preble County Board of Elections will be closed on Wednesday, June 21, due to meetings with the office of the Ohio Secretary of State. The office will reopen for business on and Thursday, June 22, at 8 a.m.

Meeting notice

The Preble County Schools Regional Council of Governments will be meeting on Monday, Aug. 7, at 8 a.m., at the Preble County Educational Service Center, 597 Hillcrest Dr., Eaton. The purpose of the meeting is to review insurance programs and any other business.

TCN summer schedule

Tri-County North Local Schools will be operating on an extended day/shortened week work schedule this summer. June 5-July 27, hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday, with the exception to the week of July 4. during which the hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and cloed on Tuesday due to the holiday. The building will be closed every Friday except July 7. Regular hours of operation will resume on Monday, July 31. For more information, call the district office at 937-962-2671

Road closure

Beginning Monday, June 12, East Lexington Road will be closed between Stoney Brook Drive and Washington Twin Road for a full bridge replacement. This closure will be specifically between Box 805 and 809 and will be closed to all traffic for approximately 4 weeks.

PCRTA meetings

Preble County Retired Teachers Association President Harold Niehaus announced the dates for 2017 PCRTA meeting as follows: June 13, Sept. 12 and Nov. 14. All meeting dates are on the second Tuesday of the month, and all begin at noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Enterprise Rd., Ingomar, near West Alexandria. All retired educators are encouraged to attend. In addition to socializing and a meal, PCRTA shares news of interest to all retirees, information regarding STRS and ORTA benefits, legislation, local community and school interests, the Tools for Schools initiative, entertainment and much more. Tornado siren testing

Testing of all sirens in the county will be conducted on the first Wednesday of each month at noon. In the event of inclement weather, sirens will not be tested that month.

Relay for Life set

The Preble County Relay for Life this year will be Saturday, June 10, from 3 p.m-midnight at the Preble County Fairgrounds. Organizational meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., at Bruce Elementary School in Eaton. Anyone interested in forming a team for this family event and raising money for cancer research is invited to attend the meetings or call 937-733-9534 for additional details. This event allows everyone in the community to celebrate those who have survived, grieve for those lost to cancer and empower others to fight back against a disease that takes too much.

Preble Shawnee Alumni

On June 24, the Camden-Shawnee-Preble Shawnee Alumni banquet will be held at Preble Shawnee High School. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Humane society wish list

The Humane Society of Preble County is always in need of the following items: cat litter (scoopable or non-scoopable), dry kitten food, canned puppy food, Clorox bleach, liquid Lysol or Fabuloso, liquid laundry detergent, air freshener, trash bags (33 gallon or tall kitchen bags), large Nyla bones and fabric softener sheets for dryers. Drop off these much-needed items to the shelter during operating hours. The Humane Society of Preble County is located at 951 S. Barron St, Eaton.

PCESC meetings

The regular monthly meetings of the Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month, with noted exceptions, at the PCESC facility located at 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton, at 5:30 p.m. Meeting dates are: June 28, July 26, Aug. 16 (moved to the third Wednesday;) Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov. 15 (third Wednesday;) Dec. 15 (fourth Friday, time changed to 3:30 p.m.)
