EATON — Christmas in July Pledge Challenge: During the Christmas Holidays the PCCOA gives Holiday Food Baskets to our seniors in need within Preble County. All monetary donations received allow the PCCOA to add items to the holiday baskets, like dairy products, meat, fresh fruit and vegetables. For the month of July, the first 20 people to make a monetary donation, who have never donated to the holiday baskets before, will be matched by an anonymous donor. This pledge match is only for the month of July, so stretch your dollars and donate today! You can stop by the senior center or mail your check in to 800 East St. Clair St., Eaton, OH 45320. Please designate “Holiday Baskets” on your check.

Health & Aging: Reid Health Alliance will be at the senior activities center on Tuesday, July 18 at 10 a.m. to talk about “Healthy Aging.”

Summer Crisis Program for Older Ohioans: The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program (HEAP) provides a one-time benefit to eligible Ohioans with cooling assistance during the summer months. The program runs from July 1 to August 31, 2017. The Summer Crisis Program provides bill payment assistance to Ohioans with a household income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and: Have a member of the household who is at least 60 years old, or can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health. Ohioans enrolled in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus Program (PIPP Plus) are not eligible for bill payment assistance through the program but are encouraged to call their local Community Action Agency to identify what assistance will be available for them. July 10-14: For this week, July 10-14 we are getting new flooring in Decade’s Diner. Therefore, All meals will be served at The Grange (501 Nation Ave.), as well as certain activities, such as Lunch with Jake, Bingo, and our Self Defense class. Call if you have questions, 937-456-4947

Northern Connection: Our next “Lunch and Learn” is on Wednesday, July 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in New Paris. Be entertained by local musician, Gene Webb. Please RSVP on or before Monday, July 10 to UMC at 937-456-8484 or PCCOA at 937-456-4947.

Ice Cream Floats: Stop in for your ice cream float on Monday, July 17, at 1:30 p.m.! Thanks to 1808 Café for sponsoring the ice cream.

Fun Friday: Join us Friday July 7 for F-U-N! The festivities begin at noon at The Grange, food is provided. Get your tickets ahead of time at the senior activities center. $3 members, $5 non-members.

New Outdoor Games: Beginning in July we have corn hole, croquet, and horseshoes. See the Senior Scene Newsletter for specific days and times.

Bingo: Thanks to Maple Gardens for sponsoring our Bingo on Tuesday, July 11 at 2 p.m. at The Grange.

Self Defense Class: The Eaton Police Division will be teaching us self-defense on Friday, July 14, at 2p.m. at The Grange.
