WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley Community Local Schools is the only district in Preble County looking at bringing a free lunch program during the summer to their schools. During a TVCLS Board of Education meeting on Monday, July 24, the board discussed OSBA Policy upgrades, one of which concerns free and reduced lunch fees.

Board President Mike Randolph asked Superintendent Bob Fischer if kids eat, even if they cannot afford any food, to which Fischer replied, they do.

Fischer then added, “At our open house this year, where we are doing a district-wide open house and a K-12 open house, everyone is going to be there. We are going to hand out free and reduced lunch forms earlier. I would like to see us doing a free lunch program next summer.

“I don’t see why we can’t, but we have to get our numbers up first,” Fischer said. “I think it would be a great thing for the community. Once we get it paid, our kids who are here during the summertime can stop in and eat free of charge. We are the only school in Preble County even looking at this.”

With regard to Medicaid, the board approved the contract with Rea and Associates to perform the 2016-2018 Medicaid Agreed Upon Procedures at a cost not to exceed $1,900. The board also retroactively approved a three year contract with Weswurd, LLC for Ohio Medicaid School Program Services, effective July 1 through June 30, 2020.
