EATON — The Preble County Commissioners approved two minor zoning cases during a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The commissioners also entered executive session twice during the meeting. One of those meetings included the majority of department heads in regard to the county’s IT services.

The two zoning cases were both approved unanimously by the Zoning Board during a Tuesday, Aug. 4, meeting and the Planning Commission during a meeting on Thursday, July 16.

The first case was for Curtis and Jane Simpson. Commissioners approved a three-acre tract being created in order to sell the home currently on the land to the tenant currently renting the home.

The Simpsons will keep the remaining 18 acres of the 21 acre lot with the tenant taking control as the homeowner of the other three acres.

The second case was for William and Patricia Jordan for their property on New Paris Twin Road, close to Hawley Mills Road in Jefferson Township. The land was reclassified from non-conforming agriculture to special use provision.

The request was to divide their land of 26 acres into two lots, one a 11.7 acres for a new home to be built on the northern section of their land once the land is sold. They will retain the remaining 15 acres of land.

Both cases were approved by the commissioners, 3-0.

During the meeting commissioners also approved a number of resolutions including:

• Three amendments for three different child placement and related services; one an increase $40,000 with Buckeye Ranch, Michaels’s Resource and Treatment Center for an increase of $23,000 and Maria’s House of Hope for an increase of $17,000.

• An amendment for transportation services with Preble County Council of Aging for an increase of $150,000.

• Agreement for the Village of Camden’s Second and Cottage Street improvements and waterline upgrades, and the 2014 FY 14 CBDG project for the village.

• West Manchester’s FY 14 CDBG projects with Thomas Electric Services for the Pump Station Emergency Generator Project.

• The use of the Preble County seal by the Mental Health and Recovery Board.

• Charlotte Eby’s resignation from the Clerk of Courts Office.

Commissioners also noted receipt of two letters between the Ohio EPA and the Preble County Landfill in regard to mitigation findings for landfill expansion.

Preble County Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Preble County Courthouse.
