EATON — Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright was presented with the Auditor of State Award for the second year in a row during a PC Commissioners meeting on Monday, Oct. 23.

She was presented the award by Joe Braden, West Regional Liaison for Auditor of State Dave Yost.

The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a “clean” audit report:

•The entity must file timely financial reports with the Auditor of State’s office in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles);

•The audit report does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or questioned costs;

•The entity’s management letter contains no comments related to: ethics referrals, questioned costs less than $10,000, lack of timely report submission, reconciliation, failure to obtain a timely Single Audit, findings for recovery less than $100, public meetings or public records, and no other financial or other concerns exist that involve eligible entity.

“I am so excited to have received this. To be honest, I just work hard in my office to keep things straight and on track. I have made a great deal of changes in the Auditor’s office since taking office and I am pleased that my efforts are being noticed,” Wright said.

“I believe that my office strives every day to ensure that the purchases and payments that go out of my office are in compliance and accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and also in compliance with applicable laws fiscally. We all go above and beyond to make sure that our office is organized and representing Preble County well.”
