Voters decide several issues

PREBLE COUNTY — Voters across Preble County helped decide two state issues, and several local questions and issues on the ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Ohioans were asked to decide two state issues, Issue 1 regarding Crime Victims and Issue 2, the Ohio Prescription Drug issue.

According to unofficial results, in Preble County, voters said yes to Issue 1, 8,457-1,713 and no to Issue 2, 8,324-1,849.

Local questions and issues included one countywide issue for Preble County Developmental Disabilities. The 1.9 mills, additional funding for five years for services for adults and children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities passed, 5,179-5,126.

Results of local questions and issues appearing on ballots included:

•Village of College Corner, current operating expenses, 3.8 mills, renewal, five years: passed, 34-16.

•Village of College Corner, fire protection, 1.8 mills, renewal, five years: passed, 41-9.

•Village of Lewisburg, fire protection, 2.25 mills, renewal, five years: passed: 308-96

•Village of Lewisburg, referendum, ordinance #2017-06, amend section 11.47.02, uses, of the Lewisburg Zoning Ordinance: failed, 189-212.

•Village of Verona, current operating expenses, 1 mill, renewal, five years: passed, 48-20.

•Village of Verona, fire and EMS, 1 mill, renewal, five years: passed, 53-15.

•Village of Verona, road improvement, 5 mills, reneal, five years: passed, 48-16.

•Harrison Township, cemetery operations, 0.5 mill, additional, five years: failed, 510-548.

•Jackson Township, fire protection and EMS, 2 mills, renewal, three years: passed, 231-49.

•Jefferson Township, excluding Village of New Paris, road and bridge, 1.2 mills, additional, five years: failed, 168-202.

•Lanier Township, excluding the Village of West Alexandria, fire protection, 1 mill, renewal, five years: passed, 485-207.

•Lanier Township, excluding the Village of West Alexandria, fire protection, 1 mill, renewal, five years: passed, 512-188.

•Monroe Township, fire protection, 0.5 mill, renewal, five years: passed, 317-81.

•Preble Shawnee Local School District, 1) permanent improvements, .75 percent income tax, additional, 23 years and 2) Bonds, cost share of construction of new junior/senior high school and new Preble Shawnee Elementary with furnishings, equipment, site improvements and all necessary appurtenances, $9,000,000 (2.5 mills), additional, 37 years: failed, 1,570-1,734.

•Miami Valley Career Technology Vocational School District, bond issues and tax levy, principal amount $95,490,959 over 30 years (0.8 mill,) principal amount $34,566,783 over 30 years (.29 mill) and property tax, 0.34 mill, additional, 10 years: failed in Preble County, 4,661-5,397.

•Local option, Camden-1 Precinct, Duncan Oil Company dba Marathon, wine and mixed beverages, Sunday sales, 10 a.m.-midnight: passed, 208-133.
