CAMDEN — The Preble Shawnee Board of Education passed a resolution recognizing the Preble Shawnee Arrows for an 8-2 record during the meeting on Thursday, Nov. 9.

According to Superintendent Matt Bishop, the resolution will recognize the “on field wins and losses” by the 2017 varsity high school football team. The team is being recognized for its outstanding record.

The team will further be recognized during the December board meeting, which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, in the high school auditorium.

“We want to invite the football team, coaches, parents, and community member to the December meeting. We will have the official resolution for each of the players,” Bishop said.

Preble Shawnee will be partnering with the county Workforce Development Committee, which is an offshoot of the ESC, to fulfill the functions of the Business Advisory Council that is required by House Bill 49.

The board approved a donation from Mike and Cindy Klapper and their family in the amount of $300 for the Jill Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund.

They also approved the purchase of 90 Chromebooks with licenses and three carts for use on each floor of the junior/senior high school building at a cost of $26,960.17.

In other business, the board approved:

•The contract with Butler County ESC for Orientation and Mobility Services and Vision Impaired Teacher Services. Treasurer Mollie Hansel added that there have been more visually impaired children who have moved into the district.

•The yearly contract with Montgomery ESC for Assessment and Autism Services.

•The Letter of Arrangement with Ohio Auditor of State for the Financial Audit of Fiscal year 2017.

•An amended certificate and appropriation modifications to reflect the change in revenue due to the loss of the income tax.

•The second and final reading of board policy matters.

•The board of education meeting dates for 2018.

The board will meet for its December meeting in the high school auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 7. Not only will the football team be recognized, but the board is required to appoint a new member following President Candi Fyffe’s resignation.
