A Really Retro Christmas

Preble County Historical Society’s 2017 Christmas Dinners are planned for Dec. 1-2, at 6 p.m. The evenings will begin with music and appetizers in the Lewisburg Log House. Olde Schoolhouse Winery and silent auction will be in the Sayler-Swartsel House. The dinner is $55 for members, $65 for non-members. RSVP by calling 937-787-4256. Reservations are made upon receiving payment. 1950s attire is encouraged.

PCESC meetings

The regular monthly meetings of the Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month, with noted exceptions, at the PCESC facility located at 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton, at 5:30 p.m. Next meeting will be Dec. 15 (fourth Friday, time changed to 3:30 p.m.)

Bell ringers for SA

Volunteers are being sought to help with bell ringing for the Salvation Army at the Oxford Krogers, raising money for the less fortunate. Anyone can sign up by going to the Oxford Kiwanis website at www.oxfordkiwanis.org and clicking the volunteer tab.

Eaton Library Open House

Eaton Library’s Holiday Open House will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 5-7:30 p.m. The event will feature music by Eric Loy, punch and cookies, ornament crafts, and prize drawings for all ages.

Humane Society wish list

The Humane Society of Preble County is always in need of the following items: cat litter (scoopable or non-scoopable), dry kitten food, canned puppy food, Clorox bleach, liquid Lysol or Fabuloso, liquid laundry detergent, air freshener, trash bags (33 gallon or tall kitchen bags), large Nyla bones and fabric softener sheets for dryers. Drop off these much-needed items to the shelter during operating hours. The Humane Society of Preble County is located at 951 S. Barron St, Eaton.
