CAMDEN — Camden Village Council agreed to move forward with the resurfacing of pavement throughout the village, a Second Street grant project and a water improvements project during a regular meeting on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Ordinance number 1011-2015 was the first to be approved by council. The motion allowed the village to enter an agreement for an Ohio State Infrastructure Bank Loan in the amount of $300,000 for patching, paving and resurfacing on various streets throughout the village.

The loan will be repaid solely from the village’s income tax, motor vehicle gasoline tax fund and permissive license tax fund revenues.

The second motion was resolution number 1050-2015, for supplemental appropriations. The motion accepted $395,600 for the Second St. Grant project, accepted $279,988 for the Water Improvements grant and moved $25,000 from salaries to personnel for payroll for the police department.

Council approved council member Kelly Doran’s motion for the village to give Jim Michael $2,000 to be used for a veteran’s memorial at the Veterans Park at the intersection of Main and Central.

The village recently saved $13,200 through volunteer work at the park. The park is a separate park from the Water Street Park which will feature a new basketball court and playground equipment.

Michael currently needs an additional $800 to have enough money to buy the $4,800 memorial for the park.

The council set Trick-or-Treat night for Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6-8 p.m.

Council also approved a motion to move $10,000 from the general fund to allow Kevin Fogt to continue work at the Town Hall.

The village will also be closing on the loan for the Town Hall Renovation Project sometime in the coming week.

Doran also informed council the contract is set for general contractor Bruce Perry on the project.

Council also approved three motions requested by Village Administrator Nelson McKeever.

The first motion approved allowed Rusty to continue in the “Property Maintenance Code Official” position.

The second motion approved allowed Tech Electronics to convert all three weather sirens to Preble County Sheriff’s new standards at the cost of $300.

The third motion was to hire Schroeder Concrete to construct a 16×17, six-inch thick concrete pad in front of the salt storage building at the cost of $1,300.
