EATON — Preble County resident Idris Daugherty celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday Sept. 3, and received 145 cards including one from President of the United States Barrack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Daugherty was adopted at three years old after being born in Palestine, Ohio. She married in 1934 and was married for 50 years. She adopted a daughter of her own while spending the majority of her life as a farmer in New Madison. Daugherty now lives in a local nursing home and is a frequent visitor to the Preble County Senior Center.
