Eaton Board of Education holds first reading of new policies, second for new bylaws

EATON — The Eaton Board of Education held the first reading of 11 different updated board policies during a meeting on Monday, Oct. 12.

Board member Joe Renner said the only major changes to the policies are revisions in the way teachers are evaluated.

The board is required to have three readings of the changes before they can become official.

The board also held the second reading of the adoption of Bylaws and Policies of the Eaton Community Board of Education.

Superintendent Dr. Barbara Curry informed the board of changes to the state testing schedule. The test will be shorter according to Curry, who said they will done in two, three-hour segments.

In other business:

The board approved the purchase of the OneCall Now phone service in the amount of $3,462.08.

The board approved to extend the contract of Tom Doseck, project manager to extend through June 30, 2016.

The board approved 13 athletic and extracurricular-related volunteers or coaches.

The board amended the contract for the Director of Technology position to 231 days.

The board approved an agreement with the YMCA for use of the pool for the Eaton High School swim team.

The board approved Heartland of Eaton to use district facilities for the 5k Run to End Hunger, free of charge.

The board accepted the following donations:

• Preble County Retired Teachers, school supplies to East Elementary.

• Alpha Garden Club, books to East Elementary.

• Class of 2015, Athletic Arts and Wellness Center.

• Various donors, clothing to the clinic at East Elementary.

The Eaton Board of Education meet every second Monday of the month at East Elementary at 6 p.m.
